Simple Tonic for Children

This tonic is designed to improve the immune system functioning in children. It can also be given when the child is sick. If there is mucus, use skim milk instead of whole milk.

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Pinch saffron powder
  • Pinch cardamom powder
  • Brown sugar to taste

Add the pepper and the grated ginger to the milk. Bring the milk to a boil three times, i.e. bring it to a boil, then take it off the burner until it settles down and repeat twice. Add the saffron, cardamom and brown sugar. If it too spicy for the child, reduce the amount of black pepper or ginger. Take once a day.
